The First International Sialendoscopy Conference invites submissions of high-quality papers describing the use of Sialendoscopy Techniques, their current implementation as well as their expected evolutions. Submission guidelines    
  • Delegates who would like to present their work at the conference, either orally or as a poster, are invited to submit an abstract for consideration by the Programme Committee
  • The corresponding topic must be selected to ensure correct scoring of the abstract. The content of the abstract must be topic related.

Please use this abstract template for the preparation of your abstract and read this information carefully before proceeding to the online submission form.

Abstracts received after the deadline will not be accepted!

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
The internet abstract submission system works best with Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher and Mozilla Firefox 3.0 or higher. Cookies and JavaScript needs to be enabled.

GENERAL
Abstracts can only be submitted online via the abstract link available on this page and must be prepared according to the following instructions and to the abstract template. Abstracts which do not comply with the guidelines listed below will be returned directly to their author for correction.
Abstracts sent by post or email will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.

  • For standardization, the acceptable length of the abstract is of maximum 2’000 characters. This includes the author’s details, titles and non-visible characters, such as spaces and line breaks
  • The abstract should be structured into the following sections:

    • Title: should clearly indicate the nature of the investigation
    • Introduction:  should contain 1-2 sentences that clearly indicate the scientific question of the study and its clinical (or other) importance
    • Methods:  should contain sufficient information to be able to understand the experimental design, the analytical techniques and the statistics used in the study
    • Results: should contain objective data to answer the scientific question(s).
    • Conclusions: should provide only conclusions of the study directly supported by the results, along with implications for clinical practice, avoiding speculation and overgeneralization.
    • References: should be listed if indicated in the abstract
  • No tables or figures are allowed in the abstract
  • Conflict of interest: It is the intent of the First International Sialendoscopy Conference to provide high-quality sessions focused on educational content that is free from commercial influence or bias. Thus the submitting author of an abstract is requested to declare any potential conflicts of interest for all authors during abstract submission
  • Abbreviations should be indicated in parentheses following their first mention in the text
  • Trade names cannot be mentioned in the title. However, trade names in brackets will be accepted in the body of the text
  • The submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the submitting (presenting) author to present the abstract (if accepted) in the session and the time assigned by the Programme Committee. Registration fees will not be waived
  • The submitted abstracts cannot be edited after the submission deadline
  • Only abstracts in “Final submission” status will be regarded as successfully submitted and considered for the conference
  • Please ensure your abstract does not contain spelling, grammar, or scientific mistakes, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. Linguistic accuracy is your responsibility. No proof reading will be done
  • No changes can be made to the abstract after the submission deadline

After the submission

  • The reviewers will judge the abstracts according to scientific or clinical value, relevance to the First International Sialendoscopy Conference 2012, conclusions confirmed by objective results, objectivity of statements, originality of work and overall impression
  • Abstracts suitable for presentation will be provisionally accepted. Notifications will be sent out to the contact details provided on the submission form
  • The presenting author of a provisionally accepted abstract must be registered at the conference within 14 days of confirmation of the provisional abstract acceptance in order to confirm their acceptance
  • By the end of February 2012, the submitting author of confirmed accepted abstracts will be notified about the presentation details
  • If you need to withdraw your abstract after the submission deadline a written statement, reflecting the reasons for this decision must be sent to fisc2012@ch.kuoni.com not later than 23rd February 2012

Presentation of abstracts

  • Abstracts can be accepted either as poster or oral communication
  • If your abstract is accepted as a poster, you will be requested to be available for discussion during the corresponding poster viewing session
  • Details on poster format and full presentation guidelines will be included in the notification letter and posted on the conference website

Publication

Selected abstracts will be published in the European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology. Accepted abstracts will also be available in the final programme and abstract book delivered on site the conference and on the conference website, about one month prior to the congress.

Authors of the most interesting abstracts might get the opportunity to provide a full paper for publication in the European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology journal. As the deadline for the reception of full papers is end of March 2012, authors should submit their abstract as soon as possible in order to be considered for a full paper publication.

Best abstract award

A special Karl Storz award will be awarded to the best presenter of a highly scored abstract.
