Introduction
The aims of this centre, ESTC, created in 2002, is
- to train clinicians in the indications and procedures associated with diagnostic
and therapeutic Sialendoscopy,
- to organise and disseminate experience gained by clinicians in this field, and
- to organise International Courses and Conferences as appropriate, to allow
for exchange of knowledge, experiences and advances gained by clinical leaders
who deal with diseases and conditions of salivary glands.
The first Sialendoscopy, hands-on course took place in Geneva, January 2002, after
the “First International Congress on Salivary Gland Diseases”. Since that time, more
than 200 participants from more than 30 countries have received tuition and have
gained experience in the technique of Sialendoscopy.
The Courses
Each course is conducted at the University Medical Centre of Geneva and Clinique
Generale Beaulieu, held twice a year, and consists of hands-on training on animal
models. The limited number of participants allows for a very friendly and interactive
approach, which contributes to quick learning. By gathering various international
leaders, this centre aims to concentrate the knowledge and experiences gained, and
to share their case scenarios in order to teach best practice to all who participate.
Accreditation
ESTC has been accredited by the European Federation of ORL Societies (EUFOS) and
The American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) for
12 CME credits.
Join the Faculty
A number of participants of previous courses have become recognised leaders and
have joined the ESTC Faculty representing countries from Europe and United States
of America. The time is now appropriate to centralise the training of Sialendoscopy
technique and to formulate a prospective database on advance the knowledge of
this unique surgical procedure, its practice which relieves patients of their significant
symptoms and morbidity.
